I have music all over my house because it makes me feel. Sometimes it feels happy. Sometimes it feels loving. Sometimes it consoles me. In fact, as serendipitous as it could be, Jason Mraz's The Freedom Song is playing on my speakers.
When I feel good I sing
And the joy it brings make it feel good
And when I feel good I sing
And the joy it brings
I'll take that as a sign that I'm onto something for real!
I don't need science to back up my feelings when I have them, but that's what scientists do! Here are some great articles that speak of the same message:
Music, Emotion and the Brain - "The fact that the hippocampus reacts to emotional music (including fear and joy) suggests that it is responsive to the potential of music to stimulate the release of brain chemicals that affect its function, by virtue of that music’s emotional associations and core meaning."
Music & How It Impacts Your Brain, Emotions - "A tool for arousing emotions and feelings, music is far more powerful than language. An increased interest in how the brain processes musical emotion can be attributed to the way in which it is described as a “language of emotion” across cultures."
Why Music Makes Our Brain Sing - "MUSIC is not tangible. You can’t eat it, drink it or mate with it. It doesn’t protect against the rain, wind or cold. It doesn’t vanquish predators or mend broken bones. And yet humans have always prized music — or well beyond prized, loved it."
I like to have music on in all parts of my house. When I turned off the TV a few years ago, music automatically filled its place. I can't imagine going back to the sounds of negativity that came from that portal. I love that it's my choice of movies and sports now. The music comes from Pandora, my own music collection based on iTunes genius lists, Songza for mood lists, and Spotify. Pick the mood and I let the music do the work.
I'm so grateful that I found this niche of making speakers for whole house usage, not only for my own soul, but for the 10's of thousands of customers that I've helped.
I know I'm making a difference in the world through music.
Music has touched me for as long as I can remember. It's why I sell speakers on the Internet.
